Crime Victim Advocate

Surviving a crime is a traumatic experience.  Finding appropriate resources to stabilize the situation and going through the legal proceedings uninformed can be even more of a challenge.  Hodac's Crime Victim Advocates help empower crime victims through a broad range of services- from providing a supportive environment to offering specific tactics for successfully navigating the legal process to formulating preventive safety procedures.

Trained Crime Victim Advocates provide caring, compassionate services and referral.  These advocates work closely with victims to increase their awareness of the workings of the court system and legal proceedings, ensuring that victims have a voice in the court process.  Advocates also accompany victims to hearings and assist in arraignments, bond hearings, trials and plea agreements.  When appropriate, Hodac's trained advocates offer specific follow-up help for urgent situations.

Our Crime  Victim Advocates can also help crime victims pursue monetary restitution for damages through State, Superior and Juvenile courts.  For victims who have been physically injured in a violent crime, Hodac's trained Advocates help pursue assistance with crime-related expenses through the State of Georgia's Crime Victim Compensation Program.

Because prevention and planning are important elements of safety, Hodac's trained specialists help victims of crime establish safety plans covering daily living and emergency situations.
